Program areas at ParentsTogether Action
Advocating for family-friendly policies - ParentsTogether Action helps parents raise their voices together to encourage our leaders to adopt policies that help families thrive: support for public education, paid family leave, affordable childcare, health care, family economic and food security, humane immigration policies, common-sense measures to curb gun violence, and more. ParentsTogether also works to ensure that social media platforms do more to protect children from online sexual exploitation, online bullying, and other tech-driven threats to children's mental health. In 2023, ParentsTogether Action fought for economic relief for families, including the expanded Child Tax Credit and free school lunch; supported legislation and policies to keep kids safe online; and worked to strengthen and defend public education against attempts to ban books, curtail the honest teaching of our history, and marginalize vulnerable students.
Supporting family civic engagement - ParentsTogether Action helps parents engage in our democracy, to ensure that our elected representatives take the concerns of families into account, and so that parents can be role models who help their children develop lifelong habits of democratic participation. Our #FamilyVote program helps parents educate their children about the importance of voting, and then gives them tools to encourage other parents to vote. In 2022, our community generated more than 17.2 million voting reminders to friends and family, highlighting the importance of the election to parents and caregivers.
