Program areas at Parks Alliance of Louisville

Alberta o. jones park - a vibrant public park named after the pioneering attorney and civil rights champion alberta odell jones whose first law office was located just blocks from the park site. The first phase of park construction - on five of the site's roughly 20 acres - began in march 2023 and celebrates the community's unique culture and heritage. Phase one includes all of the community's most-requested features:* custom music-inspired nature playground designed by earthscape. * performance pavilion featuring a giant photomosaic honoring alberta o. Jones. * walking paths and fitness stations. * multi-purpose great lawn for sports, events, markets, and more. * picnic pavilion with grills for group gatherings and cookouts. * outdoor classroom for people of all ages to learn and engage with nature. * free 5g wi-fi.
Other projects - supporting improvements to Louisville metro Parks with a vision of creating great Parks for all.
Events - the jack o'lantern spectacular began in Louisville in 2013 and is held annually in iroquois park with more than 5,000 artistically carved pumpkins illuminated at night as an organic art show". This regional event welcomes more than 110,000 guests annually, and accounts for approximately $2.8m in economic impact for the city.
