Program areas at Parks and Recreation Foundation of Arkansas
Arkansas Parks & Recreation Foundation was granted funds to support the design and construction of new trailhead facilities for the Monument Trail at Devil's Den. The Foundation partnered with Arkansas State Parks to receive appropriate approvals and evaluation of the design, and worked with Boulder Construction to construct a campground, restrooms, and changing rooms. The facilities were gifted to Arkansas State Parks in December 2022.
Arkansas Parks & Recreation Foundation was granted funds to support the evaluation, master planning, and federal permitting process for a mountain bike trail project near Queen Wilhelmina State Park in Mena, Arkansas. The project includes contracting with consultants SE Group to navigate master planning, public comment, and the National Environmental Policy Act. The Foundation is acting as the liaison between Arkansas State Parks, the U.S. Forest Service, City of Mena, and local advocates throughout the process.
Arkansas Parks & Recreation Foundation was granted funds to support the evaluation, design, commission, and installation of three art projects on the Monument Trail at Pinnacle Mountain. The Foundation worked with the art curator, KIN, and three artists to commission the art works. The project will be complete in fall of 2023.
