Program areas at Partners for Progress
Re-entry services: the department of corrections, Partners for Progress, and various other community Partners collaborate to provide essential support to individuals leaving prison in an effort to reduce recidivism and reduce the cost of our correctional system. Through a contract managed by the department of health and human services, we have combined our programs into one and provided closely coordinated assistance and support at the Partners reentry center. Reentry participants receive assistance and are held accountable for their Progress towards becoming productive citizens.
Other programs: we use grant funds in collaboration with the Alaska department of corrections and other agencies to provide housing to those with no resources so that on the day they are released from prison, they walk into safe and sober housing.
Therapeutic courts: the therapeutic court is an alternative justice model that presents an offender with the option to participate in a closely monitored treatment program in lieu of jail time. The terms therapeutic court, wellness court, and problem solving courts are now often used interchangeably. You can find the standard elements for drug and dui courts in the 10 key components of therapeutic courts developed by the national drug court institute. Partners for Progress fulfills the community based organization component by generating community support and providing flexible services to the therapeutic courts for the success of their participants.
