Crisis center information and referral the 211/988 crisis hotline provides 24/7 comprehensive information and referral, crisis/hotline, suicide prevention, disaster response and recovery line services to residents of athens, licking, knox, coshocton, marion, pickaway, crawford, wyandot, guernsey, noble, monroe, muskingum, perry, morgan, and Washington counties. The agency also provides after-hours answering services to a variety of local social service agencies in licking and knox counties as well as the 211s in richland and summit/medina counties. The 211/988 crisis hotline is certified by the Ohio department of mental health and addiction services (ohiomhas) as a behavioral health hotline and for referral and information. It is a participating center of the national suicide prevention lifeline (988). The agency is also nationally accredited by inform usa.
Parent education center staff provides group and individualized parent education programs in a variety of community settings including the home and residential substance abuse treatment. Curriculums utilized include "incredible years and "active parenting". The parent education center serves families with children ages infant to age 17.
Center for prevention services prevention specialists, while primarily focused on the prevention of alcohol, tobacco and other drug abuse, also address health or social issues including mental wellness, problem gambling, graduation rates, bullying, suicide, and violence through presentations in local schools and the community. Staff are trained in the multiple evidence-based prevention curricula including lifeskills training, too good for drugs, too good for violence, prime for life and project alert.
