Description
Pawsitive Alliance helps end euthanasia of dogs and cats in Washington State through increasing adoptions, supporting spay and neuter programs, and providing resources for pet retention. The organization's adoption program provides attention and exposure to homeless animals to increase adoption rates. In 2020, they hosted annual adoption events and #WhyNotMEPets. Their pet retention program keeps pets and people together, partnering with groups that work with the homeless in 2022 due to Seattle's high homelessness rate. Pawsitive Alliance is located in Bellevue, WA.

Program areas at Pawsitive Alliance

Our Adoption program focuses on providing additional attention and exposure to homeless animals in Washington's shelter and rescue organizations in order to increase adoption rates throughout the state. The #WhyNotMePets campaign targets the harder to place animals in the shelter system; dogs and cats that have been homeless for one year or longer, older animals, ones with medical issues, and marginalized breeds such as bully breeds.
Our pet retention program focuses on keeping pets and people together. In 2023, Pawsitive Alliance continued partnerships with groups that work with the homeless. The Seattle area has the third highest rate of homelessness in the country and up to 10% of homeless individuals have pets. Pawsitive Alliance works with groups that provide medical care and pet care items to homeless pet caretakers, and we provide free pet food and supplies resources to those individuals who need assistance with training or behavioral issues to reduce owner surrenders to local rescues and shelters.
Our Spay & Neuter program provides targeted free or low-cost spay & neuter surgeries for companion animals of low-income families (or individuals) and community cats. In 2023 we provided assistance to 1,692 cats and dogs throughout Washington state. All individuals and families that received assistance through this program were at or below the poverty threshold for their counties within Washington state.
Our Outreach program promotes awareness of PA's services and connects the community with Pawsitive Alliance's available services.
