Program areas at Cancer Justice Network
CANCER JUSTICE NETWORK - CJN actively seeks HEALTH JUSTICE FOR ALL to improve health through preventative education and access to critical exams for cancer and other health issues in Cincinnati. Coordinating the services and resources of over 20 Partner Agencies, we are heavily focused on cancer-related health concerns among low-income and minority community members through early screening and timely treatment. In 2023, CJN had 17 Community Navigators who are trained health educators who work to reduce barriers to cancer care, connecting people with educational services aimed at the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Having noted transportation as a major obstacle in cancer detection and treatment in these communities, we identify and coordinate available transportation to and from cancer-related medical appointments through the use of a grant OKI Regional Council of Governments. Our efforts also include assisting expectant mothers through Cradle Cincinnati, providing navigation for dental health through the UC Dental Hygiene Program, and are assisting with transportation for receiving vaccines through the United Way and Interact for Health. We have also partnered with Hamilton County and Cincinnati Health Departments to provide education about COVID and vaccinations and, thanks to a grant from the CDC Foundation, we have been able to hire 4 Health Champions to focus solely on Vaccinations in high risk communities.
