Program areas at Peacock Legacy of Hope
Peacock Legacy of Hope (PLH) acquired a 7-acre property featuring 4 housing units (2 sets of duplexes), a non-residential building, and a shed. After the acquisition of the property and buildings, significant infrastructure enhancements were completed, including the installation of new fencing, an entrance gate, a comprehensive security camera system and an irrigation system for the grass and other landscaping. The housing units were renovated and furnished in preparation for housing single mothers in crisis with their children. Capital Expenditures were $570,377.
Each single mom supported by Peacock Legacy of Hope is carefully matched with a Moms Helping Moms (M&M) volunteer, who serves as a dedicated mentor throughout her participation in the program. These mentors play a vital role in fostering self-esteem and identifying the unique needs of each mother we serve. Peacock Legacy of Hope actively engages in goal-setting, career counseling, and addressing educational aspirations, among other personalized needs of the mothers. In addition, we actively develop community resources on an ongoing basis so we can provide optimal support for the mothers involved in our program.
After renovations, one housing unit became the residence for a host family and we welcomed our two inaugural single mothers and their children into the other refurbished units. This marked the commencement of our dedicated ministry to single families and thus fulfilling our organization's mandate.
