Program areas at Peer Support Coalition of Florida
Peer Support Coalition of Florida (pscfl) under contract with the Florida department of children and families, provides education and development for individuals seeking certification as Florida certified recovery Peer specialists (crps). During the year pscfl developed curricula related to Peer certification, Peer supervisor development, and other related training. Pscfl conducted multiple sessions of 7 different training statewide to build capacity within the Peer profession.
Pscfl has 2 grants from the substance abuse mental health services administration (samhsa). Under the statewide consumer network grant, pscfl has been partnering with local groups of peers in building Peer networks across the state of Florida. A Peer network is a formal or informal group comprised of individuals with lived experience of mental health and/or substance use challenges, who organize to Support one another and provide resources to help others on their paths to recovery. A second component of the grant is the operation of the Peer leadership academy of Florida (plafl). Plafl is an individualized, small group, learning model for leadership development of peers in Florida's scn Peer networks through participation in leadership development activities such as a leadership growth webinar, leadership development mastermind group, completion of leadership assessments, and creation of a personal leadership philosophy and growth plan. The Peer experience national technical assistance center (pentac) is a program of the Peer Support Coalition of Florida, Inc. (pscfl). Pentac is one of the 5 national consumer and consumer supporter technical assistance centers funded by samhsa. We provide technical assistance nationally, and in multiple areas at different levels. For, example, we have the Peer entrepreneurship project which includes an ongoing monthly speaker series of Peer entrepreneurs who are running their businesses coupled with an aspiring entrepreneur workshop series to prepare peers to manage their wellness as they move into entrepreneurship. We provided Peer workforce development webinars that Support the integration of Peer specialists in various behavioral health and community settings.
