Program areas at Pennsylvania Association for the Education of Young Children
Policy and Advocacy - PennAEYC conducts outreach across the state to educate the public and elected officials on the importance of quality early childhood education for children, families and our communities and economy. Our goals are primarily focused on increasing access to high-quality early childhood care and education services for children and families and ensuring appropriate compensation and supports for the professionals and programs providing these services. We do this work through meetings and events with policymakers, engaging programs and the families they serve to share their lived experience with policymakers, community events and engagement activities, media engagement and online communications. PennAEYC collaborates with a large coalition of statewide and regional nonprofit organizations in this work.
SharedSource PA - PennAEYC operates a shared services web-based platform www.sharedsourcepa.org that allows early childhood care and education providers to maximize their purchasing power and offers state-specific tools and resources for providers, saving them time and money, positively affecting their businesses bottom line and allowing them to improve educational quality.
Professional Learning - PennAEYC offers professional learning opportunities to early childhood educators that are rooted in developmentally appropriate practices for young children. This includes Child Development Associate (CDA)Credential classes and fee-for-service professional learning opportunities requested by programs. Educational webinars are also offered on relevant issues for directors and staff.
