The project restart is a multi-prong initiative to restimulate the creative economy in west baltimore by sponsoring local curators who create Arts, entertainment and cultural experiences, curating marquee events and providing training, fellowship, internships, and development and networking opportunities for Black creatives. This initiative seeks to reduce the negative economic impacts of the covid 19 pandemic, speed up recovery efforts for the Arts and cultural community, and leverage resources as a catalyst for the long-term resilience, vibrancy, and sustainability of Black creatives.
The historical photography project (hpp), a multitiered creative placemaking initiative designed to counter histories of disinvestment that have exacerbated the loss of cultural memory for communities in the Pennsylvania Avenue corridor of west baltimore. Hpp will encourage photographers and residents living in west baltimore to contribute photographs from their personal archives and to create new images that contextualize the history, present and future of west baltimore. Hpp seeks to reimagine blighted historic sites along the Pennsylvania Avenue corridor in west baltimore by designing and installing permanent photographic banners, developing an innovative, interactive and accessible web-based archive and oral history tool for the capture and repository of Black cultural memory in west baltimore, and rendering an engaging educational toolkit for k-12 institutions, nonprofits and community members in and beyond baltimore, md.
