Program areas at Pennsylvania Institute for Community Living

The Pennsylvania Institute for Community Living (picl) offers a 15-bed modified therapeutic Community residence for individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. It is a subsidiary of resources for human development (rhd) and works with the montgomery county mental health department. This transitional program offers integrated self-help, recovery-oriented treatment along with case management, 24-hour staffing, vocational services and placement in permanent housing. Situated in a residence reminiscent of a turn of the century farmhouse, grove house residents have a unique opportunity for rehabilitation and recovery. Each resident decides, with picl staff guidance, what they want to accomplish while in the program. (see continuation on schedule o. )these goals range from getting and staying off substances, to feeling good emotionally, to gaining employment and obtaining an apartment, to reuniting with their family. It usually takes 12 to 18 months for residents to reach their goals and incorporate recovery into their life.
