Program areas at People Loving People
The People's panty provides food, clothing, personal/household items for free to any individual in need on fridays from 9-1pm and wednesday 3-6pm. The panty serves those in need, living in oyster bay, glen cove, locust valley, east norwich, and bayville.
People Loving People health is a primary care service provided voluntarily by a nurse practitioner and volunteer nurses to those uninsured and underinsured and living in the vicinity of the People's panty. Patients are screened for hypertension, diabetes, cancer, and heart disease. They can also be treated for minor conditions by the nurse practitioner who is able to dispense certain free medications.
People Loving People english as a new language class. Classes offered and provided to 18 students weekly for 8 weeks. Classes are taught by 2 certified enl instructors. Classes are available to all clients of People's panty who would like to speak better english to pursue better job opportunities.
During the height of the pandemic, People Loving People held emergency food distributions weekly on friday. Over 250 families were served every week through a drive through distribution held at the oyster bay community center.
