Program areas at People Power and Light
VOTER EDUCATION/DOOR TO DOOR CANVASINGTo inform and educate community members about the electoral process, voting rights, and key community issues, and to listen about what matters most to community members. We hosted events that had non-partisan information on the importance of voting, how to register, and how to participate in local, and state, elections. Educational materials, like pamphlets, were created and distributed through various channels such as social media, community centers, and local events. Collaborations with local organizations, schools, and community groups help extend the reach of these educational efforts. We also collected and analyzed data and trends from these conversations and events.
VOTER REGISTRATIONTo increase voter participation by facilitating the registration of eligible citizens, ensuring they are prepared to vote in upcoming elections.Key activities include registration drives at community events such as football games and high-traffic areas such as outside grocery stores. Outreach and education events, including door-to-door canvassing, and participation in community events. These activities are designed to promote civic engagement and make the electoral process more accessible to all eligible voters.
CANDIDATE RECRUITMENTTo identify, recruit, and support community-oriented individuals interested in running for public office, with a focus on fostering diverse representation and community engagement. We proactively reach out to community leaders, activists, and other potential candidates who demonstrate a commitment to public service and the community's well-being. This outreach is conducted through local events, community forums, and collaboration with local organizations and stakeholders. These activities are conducted in a non-partisan manner, focusing solely on supporting the democratic process and ensuring that the community has access to a broad range of qualified candidates.
