Program areas at Perry County Community Task Force
The PCCTF conducts weekly mentoring programs for youth and provides information/support to families of these youth. Forty-five youth were served through the CHAMPS Mentoring program in 2023. Character traits presentations are done at the mentoring sessions. With topics such as respect, courage, perseverance, empathy, and growth mindset are discussed. The Youth and Parents program served 570 individuals in 2023.
The PCCTF conducts an annual Junior/Senior Conference; an annual Eighth Grade Prevention Conference; In-School lifeskills programs; HALO in-school programs; and assists other community organizations that have similar missions. 88% of conference participants found the conference beneficial, 74% stated they were less likely to use substances as a result of the conference, and 90% state others would benefit from attending the conferences; 98% of HALO participants were able to identify healthy & harmful foods and drinks, and 96% knew using medicines wrong can be harmful. The In-School lifeskills programs served approximately 1,390 youth in 2023.
The PCCTF conducts different alcohol/substance abuse prevention and support programs for youth - Seeking Answers About Situations for 12-15 year olds; Seeking Answers for 16-18 year olds; and Girls Circle for 12-15 year old girls. Ninety-one youth were served through weekly meetings in 2023. Of those surveyed 100% felt the program helped them, 100% would recommend the program to a friend, and 86% stated the program gave them knowledge to live a healthier lifestyle.
