Program areas at PPF
Relief and shelter: in addition to the basic survival need for medicines and safe water, the new war in sudan, begun april 15th 2023, displaced more than 12 million souls thus far. The nuba mountains population now numbers upwards to 3.5 million--500,000 of these being new arrivals fleeing conflict areas. With the support of our donors, Persecution Project responded in a variety of practical ways including the following; refugee kits (a.k.a. Action packs or life packs); clothing, emergency food; tarps; mosquito nets; salt; and blankets. By working through the local church, Persecution Project is able to fellowship with believers and under Persecution as they minister to their neighbors and community. Our teams were able to rescue 1,710 people (mostly women and children) trapped in khartoum and evacuate them to safety in the nuba mountains. Persecution Project provided refugee kits (a.k.a. Action packs), shelter items (tarps), emergency food, mosquito nets, etc., to 13,600 families (102,000 people).
Advocacy and general: Persecution Project is a community dedicated to exposing instances of christian Persecution (ephesians 5:11), engaging fellow believers to intercede on behalf of the persecuted (isaiah 58:6-13), and bringing encouragement, consolation, and hope to our persecuted brethren (2 corinthians1). We encourage our donors to intercede on behalf of the persecuted and poor and inspire them to "get active" by joining Persecution Project in an area where it serves the people of sudan. Our supporters partner with us by "starting where they are, using what they have, and doing what they can." Whether organizing "walks for water", establishing prayer groups, or presenting Persecution projet's work before their civic groups and church congregations, many of our supporters become actively engaged in advocating for the needs of the sudanese people. (see part iii, ln 4c statement schedule o)
Transportation and logistics (t&l): working in the war-torn nuba mountains requires the use of a variety of locistical tools to deliver supplies safely and effectively for our various program activities. During the rainy season, "roads" in the nuba mountains becom impassable to even the heaviest of trucks, so quad bikes and motorbikes are often employed to deliver medicines and other emergency relief supplies in areas where insecurity exists. The safest available mode of transporttion is flights. The use of cargo planes minimizes the risk of injury to our drivers and workers by avoiding roads that are patrolled by bandits or soldiers. In 2023, Persecution Project conducted emergency relief flights facilitating the delivery of more than 170 metric tons of relief to the nuba mountains, the flights brought in medicines and medical supplies, borehole spare parts, hospital building materials, vehicle spare parts, hygiene kits, fuel, relief packs, tarps, blankets, mosquito nets, salt, bibles, new testaments, audio bibles, evangelism backpack projectors, etc. Unimog transport trucks continue to be used to facilitate distribution of the vital relief supplies throughout the year, even during the rainy season, with access to the nuba region year-round, Persecution Project can better coordinate activities in a timely fashion and when the nuba people need it the most.
