Program areas at Pet Orphans of Southern California
Rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption: Pet Orphans rescues abandon dogs and cats from city and county shelters throughout Southern California. Rescued animals receive medical examinations, vaccines, rabies, flea, tick, deworming treatments, and microchip identification insertion. In addition to medical rehabilitation, animals receive daily care and nutrition in preparation for adoption. Availabe animals are placed on our website for adoption. Permanent and foster homes are found through a carefully screened adoption process. Perspective adopters are: pre-screened to meet proper criteria; counseled extensively; matched with an animal that suits their lifestyle; educated by a certified dog trainer; given support hand-outs; provided with referrals to vets and trainers; and given a lifelong support system to tackle any challenges they may have.
