Program areas at Pets in Need of Greater Cincinnati

Affordable Primary Veterinary Care: Pets In Need operates a low-cost clinic that serves pet families. There are no geographic restrictions; clients come from the entire OH/KY/IN tristate area. As of 12/31/23. more than 1,700 pet families were enrolled. Services include basic wellness and preventative services; acute sick care; treatment of chronic conditions such as diabetes or renal failure; monthly flea and heartworm prevention; and compassionate end-of-life care. Services are highly subsidized but not free.
Partnership with University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College: Since 2013, Pets in Need and the UCBA Veterinary Technology Program have partnered to provide veterinary care to PIN pets and clinical experience for UCBA students. Weekly teaching clinics are held at the clinic as part of the sophomore curriculum. Students get hands-on time treating PIN pets under instructor supervision and face time with real clients in a real clinic setting. UCBA covers the staffing and medication expense of the clinics and PIN clients and their pets get extra attention from enthusiastic students.
Affordable Surgical and Dental Services: The clinics Advanced Care Center provides routine spay/neuter and other surgical procedures such as mass removals, enucleations, and hernia repairs. Dental services include routine prophylaxis; digital x-rays; and extractions. Treatment for heartworm disease is also provided
