Program areas at PQA
The organization's programs are the following: 1) measure development and testing - Pqa uses its resources to create and develop performance measures of appropriate medication use that can be used in various settings. These measures relate to patients' adherence to medications used to treat chronic diseases, patients' use of appropriate medications to avoid risk to the elderly population, and also measures to address appropriate use of several specific therapeutic categories of medications, that tend to be overused; 2) Pqa also supports projects that utilize performance measures and create interventions that can be used at the point of care to drive improvements in quality and patient care.
As a quality measure researcher, Pqa is engaged in a wide variety of projects and initiatives positioned on interdisciplinary collaboration with member organizations and quality stakeholders. As a healthcare quality educator, Pqa offers a wide range of learning and education opportunities to members. The goal of our member education program is to promote the use and impact of Pqa measures and other healthcare quality topics. Members can access the full archives of all educational materials on the member portal.
Measure concepts for new development are identified through environmental scans and then prioritized by Pqa staff with input from members. Concepts selected for development align with national priorities, represent areas where there are clinical and measurement gaps, and have the greatest potential for adoption in existing measure sets and performance systems.
