Program areas at Philanthropy Southwest
In-person annual conference: there were 512 individuals registered for the 75th annual conference, including member, non-member, speakers (111), and spouse/guest registrants. The conference included four plenary sessions and 32 breakout sessions, networking events, site visits, pre-conference sessions, the 75th anniversary celebration and celebration of Philanthropy dinner, ceo / ed breakfast. Other than member dues, this is the primary fundraising event for psw.
Educational seminars: psw offers a number of educational and professional learning opportunities on a variety of topics designed to assist its members with all aspects of operating charitable organizations efficiently, effectively, and within the legal framework of the internal revenue code as well as the statutes of their respective states. Offerings included the following: university of Texas law school nonprofit organizations institute: over 250 people attended this program led by national experts from private foundations, nonprofit organizations, law, finance and governmental entities. Topics included discussions on tax, legislative, and governance issues affecting private foundations and nonprofit organizations. Other session topics included data protection, crisis management, risk management, grantmaking, investments, compliance and reporting.webinars: "federal daf regulations from treasury: how they impact your organization and "improving mental health for Texas kids in foster care".psw on the road events: held in 5 locations, with 158 attendees - Oklahoma city, ok, fort worth, tx, denver, co, and santa fe, nm
Ongoing member services:psw is committed to connected, impactful Philanthropy by providing responsive and timely services, resources and educational programming to its members. To that end psw provided: leadership development opportunities, professional development, online educational exchange committed to member professional development dynamic and tailored learning experiences, connection opportunities, one southwestern voice to promote & defend Philanthropy effectively, sector resources and discounts, newsletters, legislative updates, research studies - demographic, rural, urban.as psw reflects on the past 75 years, psw is excited to share how we are preserving our legacy, showcasing our story, and furthering our mission for the future of psw.- preserving our legacy: with the support of memory forward, psw has compiled an extensive collection of photos, documents, and more to chronicle our 75-year history.- showcasing our story: to commemorate the 75th anniversary, we created a documentary to highlight the remarkable journey of psw. Produced by the family pictures institute for inclusive storytelling and premiered at our celebration of Philanthropy event held at the driskill (the location of our founders' first meeting), the film follows psw from its founding to today to our vision for the future.
