Photo Antiquities

Museum tours provide visitors with an educational, artful and historic first hand experience with the history of photography. Promoting preservation,presentation and education.

Educational in-house program developed according to both local and national academic standards for the arts and humanities which is multidisplinary in that it features art, science, history and culture along with hands on activities. This program is also designed to help boy and girl scouts to earn their photography merit badge.

Special exhibits,artful and educational in nature feature regional and world history as well as inform and promote the benefits to the preservation of photographic history. Special past exhibits were entitled "pittsburgh in white" and "women in photography"; current exhibits are "shantytown" and "native america - portraits of the native american indian."

Educational outreach programs travel to schools,community groups,senior centers,assisted living facilities,libraries, museums and other non-profit organizations to present multidisciplinary educational programs using the museum's collections and developed in accordance with local and national academic standards for the arts and humanities that focus on art,history,science and culture. Museum staff also travels to present seminars and lectures on the history of photography, preservation,genealogy through photography, etc.
