Program areas at Pi Beta Phi Fraternity Housing Corporation
To provide day-to-day property management, financial management, and employee management for all fhc operated and owned facilities in order to provide all members a positive, safe, and secure member Housing experience in furtherance of the exempt purpose of the organization. Fhc also provides emergency management, long-range planning, and project management including processing and managing salaries and benefits, insurance, rent, taxes and financial planning to fund deferred maintenance, renovations, and long-range planning. Fhc manages facility employees using a best-practice human resources model.
To provide support in the management of chapter finances through the chapter finance coordinator, fhc finance director, director of finance/housing, regional finance/housing specialists, financial advisors and chapter officers. This direct support includes establishing best practice accounting procedures and policies, providing guidance to the chapters through the chapter budget process, reviewing and approving of all chapter budgets, managing a designated chapter year end financial review, maintaining the chapter accounting system, coordination for chapter tax filing requirements, providing assistance with chapter Housing needs, and as needed, serving as interim financial advisor for individual chapters in need of additional consultation.
To provide education and training to more than 230 local Housing Corporation volunteers through direct staff support with specialized knowledge in the fields of finance, property management, and operations management. Fhc also provides online learning opportunities, manuals and guides found in the resource library, and electronic newsletters, all of which are available throughout the year. Topics include improving facilities to be competitive in the current campus climate, insurance requirements and legal best practices, budgeting and fundraising, employment management guidance for house directors, chefs, and other employees, property management options, and cultivating alumnae support.
