Pikes Peak Outdoor Recreation Alliance aims to strengthen the outdoor recreation industry in the Pikes Peak region through leadership and collaboration. The alliance successfully held the third year of the Pikes Peak APEX event, featuring exhilarating and well-crafted mountain bike routes on Pikes Peak. Additionally, they established a task force and partnership with UCCS through a grant awarded by Colorado Outdoor Regional Partnership (PPORA) to plan for conservation and recreation priorities for the region.

Program areas at Pikes Peak Outdoor Recreation Alliance

Pikespeakoutdoors.org, big gear show, Pikes Peak litter letter project in 2023, we continued to update & improve the website designed for locals & tourists alike to find all the information needed to safely & responsibly recreate in our region. We attended the big gear/e-revolutions show to promote the Pikes Peak region to show attendees, Outdoor businesses, and industry leaders, handing out hundreds of visitor guides. We hosted the 6th annual litter letter project with clean-ups across the area filling giant letters that spelled the word impactful & stayed on display through october.
PPORA Stewardship Fund Through the Pikes Peak APEX,and other small fundraising events, Collaborating with land managers & like-minded advocacy groups, the PPORA Stewardship Fund brings attention and action to the Pikes Peak regions trail system & surrounding lands for multiple uses & users. The Fund supports both the existing & the potential system with priority given to ensure race venue areas & trails emerge more sustainable & better connected for enjoyment by all users in the greater community.
Colorado Outdoor regional partnership ppora has been awarded a series of grants from the state to conduct planning for conservation and Recreation priorities for the Pikes Peak region. We lead a task force, maintain a partnership and fund with uccs to create and host a Pikes Peak Outdoor economy data hub, evaluated prior planning documents for the region, investigated innovative land and Recreation management models, conducted public outreach throughout el paso, teller, and fremont counties and met with other regional partnerships across Colorado. In 2023 this work continued wth focus groups, additional community outreach, analysis of feedback, and development of strategies and action items. This work continues into 2024.
