Program areas at Pima Community College Foundation
Since 1977, the Pima Community College Foundation has assisted Pima Community College in responding to the diverse needs of the people of Pima county, Arizona. Philanthropic contributions secured by the Foundation for the benefit of the College support student scholarships, program enhancements and capital improvements, which in turn maximize the College's potential for providing access, success and excellence in the educational, social, and cultural development of our citizens. During the year ended june 30, 2023, the Foundation celebrated the following achievements: 1. Funded equipment and scholarships for the inaugural cohort of the ford asset (automotive student service educational training) program which began in january 2023. The cohort has no tuition assessed during the coursework portion of the two year associates degree program. Additional scholarship dollars are available to the group to assist with day-to-day expenses when they are in the 8-week mandatory classroom training. Work experience is paid during 8-week cycles when classes are not in session. 2. Partnership with pccs workforce development division and the center of opportunity (housed at the gospel rescue mission) to train formerly homeless individuals allowing them to move into careers with thrivable living wages to move into permanent housing in a safe environment, keep food on the table and pay bills. The training is provided at no cost to the student learners so they incur no loan debt.
