Program areas at Placer Community Foundation
Community Needs: Grants provide opportunities for greater community impact in education, health and human services, animal welfare, senior programs, preserving historical landmarks and open space. Placer Collaborative Network brings together 40 nonprofit, government, health care, faith based, educational and municipal entities to work on collaborative issues facing children, adults and families of Placer County.
Arts: Grants enhance and sustain a vibrant arts culture in Placer County by increasing the visibility/accessibility of the arts and promoting sustainability of nonprofit arts organizations. Grants from the Susan Cooley-Gilliom Art Program develop and enhance the visual arts through short-term residencies and workshops taught by nationally established and highly-reputable artists who create a range of media.
Community Leadership Nonprofit Initiative helps local nonprofits thrive and grow through high quality training and technical assistance. Annual leadership summit brings nationally known experts who provide training in best practices in governance and fundraising for over 200 volunteers who serve on boards of directors of nonprofits in Placer County. Eight total trainings provided over 1,615 hours of free training was provided to nonprofit leaders. The foundation continued its work to educate the public on the need for affordable workforce housing in Placer County and to advocate for policy changes to ensure affordable housing is constructed.
