In fy 2023 Action Fund staff responded to the overturning of roe v wade through the dobbs vs. jackson women's health organization supreme court decision. In the absence of a national right to abortion, staff collaborated with allies at the Minnesota legislature and in the governor's office to pass bills to protect and expand access to abortion in Minnesota, as well as improving access to birth control, and increasing funding for reproductive health care. Action Fund staff in all three states operated a sophisticated digital program that generated 91,104 website visits, 44 blog posts, 649 new facebook followers, and 1,102 new instagram followers. (continued in schedule o)in response to the supreme court decision to overturn roe v. wade, staff organized supporters to lobby their elected officials to pass the protect reproductive options (pro) act, and continued to grow our youth and campus organizing work.staff held numerous events and actions in response to the supreme court decision to overturn roe v wade. Visibility rallies were held in cities across all three states. Legislative victories in Minnesota included the passing of the protect reprodcutive options (pro) act, the protect access to contraception (pac) act, an increase in funding for family planning services, the reproductive freedom codification act, the reproductive freedom defense act, and more. During the Minnesota legislative session, Action Fund staff engaged thousands of people through grassroots organizing, text banking, phone banking, and digital outreach to protect and expand access to reproductive health care in Minnesota through the pro act and numerous other pieces of legislation. Staff and volunteers sent 36,000 text messages, over 200,000 emails, patched 1,500 calls into legislators' offices, and secured nearly 3,000 letters to legislators. Staff in Minnesota held various lobby days over the course of the legislative session. Planned Parenthood generation Action youth chapters, teen council members, and partner organizations joined meetings with their elected officials to discuss the importance of passing the pro act, along with other bills that would protect and expand access to sexual and reproductive health care. In partnership with legislators, staff hosted a series of reproductive freedom legislative panels in cities across the state to review the historic legislative session and the wins for reproductive health care that occurred. Our thirteen Planned Parenthood generation Action youth chapters based in Minnesota conducted dozens of events on their campuses and organized their peers to take Action to secure reproductive rights in our state. One generation Action participant was chosen to join vice president kamala harris and other officials for a talk about abortion access for young people and had the opportunity to share her story.staff both across the state and virtually educated supporters about the court case that could threaten access to mifepristone through mutliple events and calls to Action. Staff in North Dakota hosted events and ran calls to Action educating supporters about harmful proposed and passed legislation. Staff and volunteers engaged the public to contact their elected officials in opposition to these bills and wrote letters to the editor highlighting their harms. Staff testified at the legislature against an anti-abortion bill.
