Program areas at Play It Forward
For the year ended December 31, 2023 the organization operatated the following programs:Through our Keys to Learning program, we provide free weekly applied lessons inpiano/keyboards, guitar and ukulele to more than 200 students enrolled at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., KairosPDX and Boise-Eliot schools in Portland, as well as free online lessons to PIF graduates in middle and high school. Each child is gifted a free instrument for life.We also host free Songwriting Camps each summer in North Portland, and will be hosting an Afternoon Enrichment camp this summer with Portland Public School District.All our students are taught how to write, notate and perform their own songs.In addition to Keys to Learning, we also operate Instruments for Change, through which we facilitate the donation of musical instruments to music education programs throughout rural Oregon and SW Washington.
