Program areas at Poison Apple Productions
Our Apple Seeds program serves youth ages 5-14 with age-appropriate curriculum and activities that encourages a love and appreciation of live theater performance. This is our largest and most rapidly growing program that serves nearly 500 students a year. We offer three sessions of Apple Seeds classes a year and each class culminates in four live performances per class complete with costumes props theater lights and sound. There are usually nine classes a week between the three levels. This program serves as our introductory experience and many youth actors go on to our more intensive programs or continue to pursue performing arts in other venues. No auditions are required and everyone who enrolls participates on stage.
Our Summer camps differ from our Apple Seds program and have developed in response to the needs and desires of our participating families. Each camp is three hours a day 5 days a week for three weeks. Camp culminates in three live full performances of a popular musical theater title complete with costumes props simple sets lights and sound. In three weeks the young actors work on dance music and acting skills to present a polished performance. There are no auditions for this program so every actor who enrolls participates on stage. Our summer camps serve more than 130 students annually and the program continues to grow providing performing arts opportunities in a format that helps working parents provide summer activities that fit with their busy schedules.
Our mainstage program is our most intensive theater experience and can include actors as young as 5 years of age through adults. This is an audition only production experience differing from a class that focuses on advance techniques and heightens the skills of its participants. I also brings important storytelling to our community through high quality theater performance and production. Historically we produce 2-4 Main Stage shows per year often including a holiday musical an original work and a summer blockbuster title performed in a professional theater venue. We have 40-80 actor participants per year in our mainstage program and reach 1,000 or audience members. Our mainstage program also serves as a training ground for young artists interested in design and technical theater opportunities a facet of the program that we continue to expand.
