Program areas at Pontiac Community Foundation
In 2023, m1 mobility leveraged 114,976 to partner with 12 organizations to deliver k-12 programming, providing over 4,300 rides to students during the 2023-2024 school year and expanding its fleet with a fourth van in spring 2024. The center for Pontiac entrepreneurship (cfpe) leveraged 348,284 to make significant strides by delivering over 500 hours of training and 700 hours of 1:1 counseling to Pontiac small business owners over the last 2 years, facilitating access to 100,000 in capital. In 2023 alone, cfpe provided 762 hours of 1:1 counseling, 364 hours of technical assistance, and 220 hours of financial literacy and credit counseling, supporting 187 business owners, 100% of whom were from bipoc communities, with 34% being women-owned businesses. The oakland county regional housing partnership launched a webpage to promote attainable housing, merged with the oakland county blueprint to end homelessness, and partnered with the Michigan association of planners for zoning reform workshops, while also developing an online hub for homelessness prevention resources. Prevention Pontiac conducted Community engagement, school outreach programs, and vaping education presentations, participated in cadca educational training, and established the prevention Pontiac advisory board. Pcf distributed 159,000 in mini-grants on behalf of the oakland county health equity council to 12 local non-profits, with grants of up to 25,000 each to enhance access to healthcare, transportation, and healthy food. Nearly 500,000 was secured for the mattie mckinney hatchett park redevelopment through an expanded partnership with the city of Pontiac. Community policing efforts included collaboration with the oakland county sheriff's office and 21 Community policing solutions, hosting an event with 15 Pontiac residents to discuss law enforcement relations. The friends of Pontiac parks received a 56,000 two-year investment from the Community Foundation for southeast Michigan, employing 9 high school students for the maintenance of Pontiac's 29 city parks. The fiscal sponsorship program also highlighted the grassroots efforts of friends of Pontiac parks, led by kathalee james, in revitalizing and maintaining Pontiac's green spaces.
