Portland Mountain Rescue responds to calls from the county sheriff and conducts searches and rescues in high angle areas. Its volunteers are trained in high angle snow and rock rescue techniques, enabling them to respond swiftly to requests for assistance. In 2022, PMR participated in numerous search and rescue missions. The organization also conducts public mountain/outdoor safety presentations to educate the public on proper backcountry safety precautions.

Program areas at Portland Mountain Rescue

PMR trains volunteers in high angle snow and rock rescue techniques. PMR maintains a capacity to respond quickly to a call from the sheriffs office to assist in a search and rescue. In 2022, PMR responded to search and rescue missions involving numerous hours on the missions. PMR members spend numerous hours training its members in specific search and rescue techniques to maintain proficiency and a readiness state to respond to a variety of search and rescue missions.
PMR volunteer members do public mountain/outdoor safety presentations to raise the level of awareness of propert backcountry safety precautions.
