The Potato Leadership Education and Advancement Foundation strives to serve as a lasting source of funding for leadership development, educational programs, and other initiatives that drive progress in the potato industry across the United States. Through effective training, growers will develop communication skills, strategic influence, and decision-making aptitude while also gaining a greater understanding of key practices and opportunities. Additionally, each year Potato LEAF awards $10,000 scholarship to a graduate-level student conducting research with direct benefits for the industry.

Program areas at The Potato Leadership Education and Advancement Foundation

Leadership Development, Educational Training and Advancement Opportunities: Growers will learn how to become effective communicators, influencers, and decision-makers for the industry, broaden their understanding of the key opportunities, practices, and challenges affecting national potato production and build their industry network through unique opportunities for collaboration with grower-leaders from across the country. The Leadership Institute Alumni Summit brings together Institute graduates to network, refresh skills, and learn new techniques to better position themselves for success in the potato industry. The Potato Industry Leadership Institute brings together outstanding potato growers and industry representatives for eight days of training and professional development.
Graduate-level Annual Scholarship: The Potato Leadership, Education and Advancement Foundation (Potato LEAF) will award a $10,000 academic scholarship to one graduate-level student conducting research for the benefit of the potato industry. The winner is selected based on a number of criteria, including academic achievement, leadership abilities, potato-related areas of graduate study, benefit to the U.S. potato industry/commercial value, extracurricular activities, and grades.
