Program areas at Potomac Community Resources
Pcr programs - pcr provides 30 innovative, therapeutic, community-based programs for teens and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (i/dd). These programs include music enjoyment and performance, therapeutic movement and exercise, art therapy, photography, respite care for individuals with significant and moderate care needs, communication skills, basketball, social skills, a social club, and many special events throughout the year. Most pcr programs run on a weekly basis throughout two semesters each year.
Community collaborations: pcr assists other Community and faith-based groups in creating programs for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (i/dd),resulting in the start-up of new programs in the following locations:chevy chase, md; northeast Washington, dc; upper montgomery county, md; southern Maryland; and prince george's county, md, including one for individuals and families whose first language is spanish. Pcr alsosupports safe, affordable housing opportunities for people with i/dd.
Resource information & referrals: pcr provides family members and professionals with resource information and referrals via individual consultation, monthly informational webinars, and a resource directory on the pcr website. Pcr partners with two dozen non-profit organizations, civic groups, clubs, public and private educational institutions, i/dd service providers, and local government agencies to serve individuals with i/dd and promote their interests.
Annual patricia sullivan benefit - the annual patricia sullivan benefit celebrates pcrs members and their accomplishments; raises awareness about pcrs mission and programs; honors pcrs volunteers, Community partners, and staff; and raises funds to support pcrs work.
