Program areas at Power A Clean Future Ohio
In 2023, Power A Clean Future Ohio (pcfo) continued its mission to build momentum for A Clean, prosperous Future by equipping local leaders for equitable, community-driven carbon reductions in Ohio. The organization made significant strides in expanding its reach and impact across the state. One key achievement was the launch of the inflation reduction act (ira) resource hub. This platform aims to bridge the gap between federal legislation and local implementation, providing Ohio's local governments, businesses, non-profits, and community members with easy access to information about opportunities stemming from the ira. Additionally, pcfo marked the first anniversary of the inflation reduction act, highlighting its positive impact on ohioans. Throughout the year, pcfo intensified its efforts to support Ohio communities in their commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and fighting climate change. The organization worked with communities to build capacity for grant writing and implementation efforts, conducting workshops, providing one-on-one consultations, and developing resources to help local governments navigate the complex landscape of Clean energy funding. This support has resulted in millions of dollars in federal funding for Ohio's Clean energy transition. To provide A solid foundation for climate action, pcfo conducted comprehensive greenhouse gas (ghg) inventories for multiple Ohio communities, helping them better understand their emissions profiles and identify effective reduction strategies. Pcfo was also crucial in facilitating connections between Ohio municipalities and federal best practice-based programs, collaborating with organizations like the great plains institute to pilot initiatives such as charging smart in Ohio. Throughout 2023, pcfo celebrated several milestones in community engagement. Seven new communities committed to reducing their ghg emissions through pcfo, bringing the total to 48 Ohio municipalities with emission reduction goals. The organization also established itself as A nonprofit and announced its inaugural board of directors.
