Program areas at Power Atlanta
Food Pantry: This program focuses on providing food assistance through our food pantry and hosting monthly Women's Wellness events with a focus on HIV prevention for Black women. Accomplishments: Grew our food pantry to serve over 200 clients weekly, providing an average of 35 pounds of food per client per week. Women's Wellness events attract over 20 women of color each month. Collaborated with a Gilead representative to discuss pharmaceutical aspects of HIV prevention. Established an MOU with Aid Atlanta for HIV testing at our Resource Center and client referrals for case management and prevention services. Partnered with FACAA to assist with LIHEAP applications for utility assistance.
Event Coordination and Resource Provision This program focuses on coordinating events and providing diverse resources to the community through various initiatives. Accomplishments: Organized events such as back-to-school bash, Halloween trunk or treat, and Christmas toy giveaway. Offered comprehensive resources at each event including HIV testing, toys, food, haircuts, hair braiding, school supplies, COVID tests, housing resources, utility assistance resources, job placement agencies, and mental health advocacy. Ensured effective coordination and provision of resources to meet the diverse needs of the community.
Homeless Outreach and Community Services This program focuses on monthly homeless outreach events and providing various community services, including clothing closet, document/resume clinic, and introduction to trade classes. Accomplishments: Conduct monthly homeless outreach events at Magic City, providing food, hygiene supplies, and other necessities to over 200 unhoused individuals. Continuously operate a clothing closet, document/resume clinic, and monthly introduction to trade classes. Hosted community events such as a back-to-school bash, Halloween trunk or treat, and Christmas toy giveaway, offering a wide range of resources including HIV testing, toys, food, haircuts, hair braiding, school supplies, COVID tests, housing resources, utility assistance resources, job placement agencies, and mental health advocacy.
