Program areas at PoWeR Book Bags
School vacation getaways - eligible schools typically have over 50% of their students at the free and reduced lunch eligibility. Language and literacy materials are distributed in the 2 weeks before 4 school breaks to disrupt the loss of ability and especially the summer slide.
Little learners - early head start and county health departments - a growing program in which we work with established health department programs such as wic, vaccination clinics, maternal infant health program (mihp) and other sites to provide consistent language & literacy materials to the neediest.
Community services include distributing language & literacy materials to low income families through several locations including food and baby pantries, libraries, migrant camps,women's resource centers, and foster care.
