Girls in ActionTM, now re-named Girls Taking Action (GTA) was founded in 2005 by Dr. Verna Cornelia Price to address the rise in violent, destructive, and delinquent behavior being exhibited by the female students at Minneapolis' North High School. Since then, Girls in Action has impacted more than 5,000 girls in Minneapolis, St. Paul, Chaska, Fridley, Robbinsdale and Brooklyn Center, as well as in Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, Guatemala and Kenya. Our mission for Girls Taking Action is to motivate, mentor, empower, engage and educate girls to succeed in school and life. Through weekly mentoring groups we engage girls in high school and middle school in academics and positive leadership. The Re-Planting ProgramTM, founded and director by Brother Shane Price in 2006, is a program of the Power of People Leadership Institute. Since our founding, the Re-Planting Program (P.O.P) has worked with over 5000 offenders in the Department of Corrections with high risk designations to reduce criminal thinking and behavior, increase reintegration, increase stability in the community, and increase access to employment, housing, system navigation, leadership development, and mental and chemical health services. The Boys of Hope ProgramTM is a weekly program designed for boys in grades 6-12. The project combines a unique, innovative and patented curriculum, The Power of People Personal Development SeminarTM, based on the core principles from Dr. Verna Price's book, The Power of People: Four Kinds of People Who Can Change Your Life with a critical thinking, interactive, reality-based approach to learning. The program directly addresses strategies for using personal power to problem solve, attain self-regulation, and build and maintain positive relationships in school and community
