Program areas at Powerplay Nyc
Our work focuses on girls and young women of color living in low-income communities who are among Nyc's most vulnerable populations. Powerplay programming is offered in title 1-funded public schools in all five boroughs of Nyc. At full capacity, Powerplay serves over 1,100 youth in 30 sites across Nyc where over 90% of our participants are girls of color (predominantly black and latinx). Our programs for girls and young women help to fill the gap through a continuum of services beginning with girls as young as five and intensifying as girls mature. We believe Nyc's young women are a valuable source of talent and leadership; in order to thrive, they need safe spaces to be active, think creatively, and talk about issues that affect them.

Led by Powerplay, the collaborative continues to create opportunities for girls (in all five boroughs of Nyc) to amplify their voices concerning issues that impact their lives. This is accomplished via the stars cgi fellows program, self-care series, youth town halls and leadership breakfasts.
