Program areas at Powhatan Christmas Mother
Provided Christmas gifts, food gift cards, and gas gift cards to 208 families: 235 children, 71 seniors, and 79 disabled adults for a total of 385 individuals.
Inflation costs drove the price of eggs to 5x normal price; gas prices approached $5/gallon. Our program initiated direct grants in the form of grocery and gas gift cards to our program clientele to help offset the drastic rise in the cost of essentials.
Support specific initiatives to help bolster our clientele in all their ongoing needs throughout the year: $2000 for a food shortage fund, $1000 to our local free health clinic, $2000 to provide medical transportation, $500 for domestic abuse crisis intervention, $3000 for college scholarships, $800 for recreational grants for young people to participate in youth sports/recreation, and other small allocations as need arose.
