Program areas at Prairie Pines Partners

The Prairie Pines Partners (PPP) increased free open to the public days at the Prairie Pines Natural Preserve (PPNP) to twice weekly so now open to the public year around from 9 AM - 5 PM on every Friday and Saturday. There were eight special nature-based educational events and a fundraising run/walk. The grounds and Welcome Center were open on other days for occasional, scheduled community meetings and use. In addition, we continue to involve K-12 and collegiate academic programs and others on the site. Our three main areas of expense are for programming. They include salary, administration costs and education and event costs. We received no grants in 2023 and focused on administration and organizational building.
Prairie Pines Partners continues to focus on their mission, that of PPNP and the donors vision. These encompass wildlife habitat, natural resource conservation, environmental education, contact with nature and public access. We collaborate with educational programming of other institutions and organizations including the University of Nebraska, Nebraska Wesleyan University, Lincoln Public Schools and Scouts of America projects. We also collaborate with other agencies and nonprofits such as the Nebraska Mycological Society, Nebraska Game & Parks, Meadowlark Music Festival and Community Crops.
