Program areas at Our Justice
Our Justice abortion assistance programs provide financial assistance and hotel stays to those seeking abortion care in Minnesota. In Our 2024 fiscal year we provided $349,321 in abortion assistance funds for medical care, and $23,416 in hotel stays for those traveling to access care. These funds represent assistance provided to 829 individuals. Additionally, we debuted a full funding pilot, where for three months we provided full funding to all clients requesting funds. As a result, we saw a 16% increase in clients able to make their appointments.
Our Justice devoted more time and resources to community involvement and engagement, including relaunching its post-abortion support group emerge, to provide an affirming space for people to talk about their abortions and center the importance of bodily autonomy. We also debuted sovereign, a concert event to connect reproductive Justice aligned organizations in Minnesota with community members.
Our Justice's advocacy program devoted considerable resources to improving the sustainability for independent abortion clinics in Minnesota. This included advocating at the state level for an increase in state medicaid reimbursement rates for abortions, improving the administrative process for abortions through state medicaid, lobbying for one-time funding, as well as providing technical assistance to clinics.
