Program areas at Project Angel Food
During fiscal year 2023, Project Angel Food provided 1,637,649 medically tailored meals to the homes of 4,134 clients. Project Angel Food's dedicated volunteers and staff provide nutritious, free meals to those too ill to cook. A team of registered dietitians collaborate with chefs for custom meal plans designed to nutritionally address each client's specific medical condition. In addition to volunteers, staff drivers distribute meals in the organization's fleet of refrigerated vans which service 64 major routes across the 4,751 square miles of los angeles county, including the antelope valley, east los angeles, metro los angeles, san fernando valley, san gabriel valley, south los angeles, south bay/long beach, and west los angeles. Project Angel Food stands as the sole non-profit offering free Food and nutrition services to individuals of all backgrounds and diagnoses countywide.in the 2023 fiscal year, Project Angel Food delivered an agency record-breaking 1,639,461 meals, a 34% increase from the previous year, and served 4,134 unduplicated clients, marking an 11% rise. In addition, 338 children received breakfast daily through our healthy start program, which provides cereal, fruit, yogurt, milk, and other items to children living with our critically ill clients. The median age of Project Angel Food's clients is 64among Project Angel Food's clients, 78 & are people of color. Female idenitfying people represent 47% of Project Angel Food's clients, including 1% who are female idenitfying transgender clients.
