Description
Project Restoration International brought Belarusian children and teens to Kansas City, MO for 13 summers as part of the Radiation Respite program. The program was created as a result of an explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear plant in Ukraine, with the mission to allow the children to be out of their radioactive environment for a short time during the summer. Children lived with local families for 5-6 weeks and received physical therapy, orthopedic surgeries, and prostheses.
