Program areas at Parish Proud
Sweep acadiana - to mitigate and tackle litter in acadiana, Parish Proud held 400+ volunteer events, engaged some 3,500+ volunteers, picked up 40.6 tons of trash in lafayette Parish covering 200+ miles. Grabber, gloves and vests were distributed in the community to aid in the litter pickups. Parish Proud volunteers become eligible to receive a presidential volunteer services award for their volunteerism in 2022. Initiated Parish Proud day of beautification with 300 volunteers to paint and clean a local park.
Infrastructure: to encourage both ownership and care over acadiana's landscapes, Parish Proud purchased and installed 400 "do not litter" signs across lafayette Parish. These signs were tailored to the municipalities they were installed in. The organization worked directly with local governments, including the cities of scott, broussard, lafayette and carencro. Working with republic waste services & lafayette consolidated government, 450 trash cans were placed along the mardi gras parade route mitigating 10,000 lbs of trash over the holiday. Parish Proud also worked to hand out over 9,000 trash bags to float riders.
Education and awareness - to both educate and raise awareness of the quality of place issues acadiana faces, Parish Proud invested and completed a comprehensive marketing strategy aimed at creating behavioral change. Beautifican events were held, as well as community speaking engagements to create a greater awareness. Parish Proud works with students to equip them with the knowledge and skills to create positive community changes. 15,801 students were reached. 365 days of public service announcements totaling 21,531 psa commercials were aired over 15 local tv channels. 674,000 residents were reached using tv ads. In- kind advertising was donated with a value of 131,424. There are over 10,000 social media followers. Parish Proud day began the transformation of girard park.
