In 2022, we elevated the work of dei, by restructuring resources with plans to align and scale dei strategies across the Providence family of organizations. We continue to execute on our integrated strategic & financial plan which clearly expresses our commitment and acceleration of this important work to address social, racial, and economic disparities in the communities we serve. Providence's social responsibility framework aims to deploy the assets of our system to support community Health improvement, strengthen local economies and reduce our carbon footprint. We have implemented an environmental stewardship system strategy that encourages waste reductions, efficient energy and water usage, local agriculture partnerships, less toxic and fewer chemical use, and a reduction in carbon from travel. We have also held environmental stewardship as one of the top priorities for our leadership incentive program to ensure alignment and momentum continues. In april 2022, Providence published its first environmental stewardship report, in which we reported 12 percent reduction in carbon emissions in seven key categories in our acute care facilities since our 2019 baseline. As of september 30, 2022, (the most recent data available), we have increased that reduction to 13 percent.2022 program service accomplishmentsfor more than seventy-five years, Saint John's Health Center has offered a range of Health care programs and services unparalleled on the westside of los angeles.in addition, Providence Saint John's made progress toward four key initiatives.initiative 1: strengthen infrastructure of continuum of care for patients experiencing homelessness as a hospital that sees a significant number of patients experiencing homelessness that come in through our emergency departments for care.2022 accomplishments:- screened over 282 er patients for homelessness.- discharged over 25 patients to temporary/permanent housing.- $150,000 in grants awarded by psjhc to local homeless service providers.initiative 2: improve access to Health care services we will continue to provide financial and in-kind support to community clinics and nonprofit organizations that improve Health care access to underserved and vulnerable populations.2022 accomplishments:- $275,000 in grants awarded from psjhc to local organizations for access to care.- $110,226 in-kind lab and diagnostic services provided to local fqhcs.- $150,000 in grants awarded from Saint John's Health Center foundation to local organizations for access to care.initiative 3: improve access to behavioral Health and reduce stigma.- 52 families linked to services through the warm line referral.- 11 trainings at schools for teachers and parents hosted by the child and family development Center.- 44 children provided mental Health services in smmusd preschool classrooms.initiative 4: train and deploy a workforce of community Health workers to address social determinants of Health in underserved populations Providence has a long history in employing community Health workers (chws) in a diverse breadth of roles in programs that address social determinants of Health.- 71 calfresh applications assisted, with 35 confirmed enrollments.- 121 people trained in mental Health first aid.- one chw intern placed at a healthcare location in the Saint John's service area through Providence's community Health worker academy program.for more information by need area go to our cb annual report located at: httpswwwprovidenceorgaboutannualr...
