Program areas at PTA Oregon Congress Sunnyside Environmental PTA
Sustainability grant to Sunnyside Environmental School: Supported Sustainability teaching program and garden visits by all students. Sustainability team leads morning meetings, lunch composting and recycling program, homeless meals preparation, Hunger Banquet, service in the garden and all planting and harvesting on school grounds. This is provided as the grant to the school so they can contract with a nonprofit for these services.
Equity scholarships: provided funds to support fees for attending overnight field studies on behalf students on free and reduced lunch. Provided additional financial support for families unable to pay costs of overnights.
Arts Instruction grant: Provide for a weekly music teacher for grades K-2, funds the production of The Portland Musical for grade 3, and pays for training to middle school teachers to better integrate visual arts into theircurriculum for grades 4-8.
Other programs to serve the community.
School Services grant: Provided Student Services grant to school to give funds for classroom expenses, science supplies, PE equipment, library books, garden supplies and other school supplies and expenses.
PPS Foundation grant: Provided support for school by making a grant to the schools foundation. All program expenses represent grants.
