Public Design Studio

Cities+: technical assistance program leverages Public Architecture's expertise in Design and innovative solutions to create self-directed Design projects of broad social relevance through a combination of prototypical Design and advocacy efforts; we also work with nonprofits and socially responsible clients to develop Design strategies and resources that address their needs and enable them to better achieve their missions.

Desing access: Design access summit convenes leaders from Design, philanthropy, non-profits, and government to advance our collective ability to create positive change through the built environment. Participants share their skills, experiences, and goals to build multidisciplinary assets specific to social innovation, to collaborate on impactful projects, and to examine complex issues from new perspectives.

The 1+ program: a national program that mobilizes Design firms to give a minimum of their annual billable hours to pro bono serives and then matches participating firms with nonprofits in need of pro bono Design services. Made up of over 1500 firms represented by 18,000 architects, city planners, landscape architects, and other designers of the built environment who are committed to pro bono services for communities in need.

Projects: firehouse clinic to develop more accessible models of health care provision by co-locating medical clinics on the grounds of existing fire station sites; scraphouse illustrates the possibilities and challenges of green building, recycling and reuse; day labor station addresses the needs of a community that traditionally has not had access to quality Design environments
