Program areas at Public Policy Institute of New York State
New York State p-tech:ppi recruites employer partners and provides technical support, professional development, training and mentoring to the planning and steering committee for the 59 p-tech 9-14 schools in New York. These schools are implementing an innovative model to prepare teenagers to complete their high school diplomas, an aas degree and workplace preparation for an entry level job into a middle class career. The schools are partnered with 41 colleges and universities, located in 9 of the 10 economic regions throughout the State, and serve over 7,500 students.
As serious discussions, both federally and in New York State, began on banning the use of noncompete agreements, ppi created a Public education campaign to discuss the economic dangers for New York State if noncompete agreements were banned. This education campaign was designed solely to educate the Public and discuss the economic impact that banning noncompete agreements would have on the New York economy. The campaign targeted the general Public as to the dangers and sought to provide a better understanding through Public outreach and information that was provided on a dedicated website.
