Program areas at Pueblo Rescue Mission
The Pueblo Rescue Mission (PRM) went from being just an emergency services transient shelter to also offering a residential program for the Pueblo community. PRM created and implemented a stabilization program for Pueblo's homeless who were seeking more than just emergency shelter. This program called the "Step Back In" program was centered around stabilizing the three core issues of homelessness to include: drug addiction, untreated mental illness and financial instability. All participants must maintain sobriety to remain in the program. (cont on sch o)
PRM also joined in partnership with Gateway To Success to build a justice restoration shelter program entitled "Next Stop" to support those released from incarceration and needing mental health/addiction supports in a more intensified manner. PRM's program combined with Gateway's intensive outpatient program provides the newly released client an opportunity to stabilize, engage in adequately defending themselves within the justice system and it provides them an opportunity to stabilize and re-enter the Pueblo community safely and successfully. PRM also enhanced its clothing and hygiene hand out protocol and started a Saturday program entitled " Outreach Saturdays". This program supports our outreach homeless clients who decline emergency shelter services and are not in the residential program. This weekly event is set up in the PRM parking lot to hand out clothing, hygiene, blankets, tents, shoes, and food. Tables are set up outside, and items are freely handed out to those in need. All recipients report specific data to our staff upon receipt of items so PRM can collect data on the individuals we serve through HMIS, a federal HUD database. (CONT ON SCH O)
