Program areas at Pug Hearts Houston Rescue
All pugs accepted into Rescue in 2020 were treated by a licensed veterinarian. All animals were fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered, if necessary, and given an exam to determine the need for additional medical interventions. Medical interventions by Pug Hearts and the veterinarian included: heartworm treatment/prevention, surgeries to correct orthopedic injuries, treatments for lung and skin infections, intestinal parasites, dry eyes and eye ulcers, dental disease, mange and other medical care deemed necessary by the veterinarian. No medical care was withheld for any dog. All adoptions were completed after review of submitted applications, received reference checks, a home visit and a meet/greet with the family and potential adoptive dog.
