Program areas at Queer Power Alliance

SKC QUEER ADVOCACY PROGRAMS: Queer Power Alliance works with LGBTQIA+ community, community partners, leaders, and elected officials to effectively build power and support to pass policies that advance economic, housing, and gender equality and liberation for LGBTQIA+ and QTPOC community members. We are building a sustainable network of LGBTQ+-led organizations and LGBTQIA+ community leaders that uses an equity -centered, collective impact framework to advance systems and policy changes.
HOUSING JUSTICE PROGRAM: Queer Power Alliance advocate for affordable housing and eliminate the impacts of isolation, invisibility, lack of safety and political clout created by LGBTQIA+ displacement. We work with LGBTQIA+ community leaders to identify the best steps in supporting LGBTQIA+ community in Seattle and South King County, to address the lack of safety, homophobia, and transphobia in faith-based and overall housing options. Queer Power Alliances conducted four renters' rights trainings, a housing fair/forum and tenant educational videos for LGBTQIA+ renters about their housing rights. QPA had won significant statewide and local housing protections and policies.
ECONOMIC JUSTICE PROGRAM: Queer Power Alliance educates, organizes, and provides resources to and for LGBTQIA+ workers to enhance economic stability in Seattle and King County for low-wage workers and support workers to have a safe and secure work environment. We provided labor standard education training, two worker leadership training, educational videos and graphics. We produced a worker's right pamphlet that was provided to over 500 community members in Seattle.
GENDER JUSTICE PROGRAM: Queer Power Alliance offers extensive experience in implementing Talk Gender to Me, a gender identity-based training. Our expertise includes working with organizations to generate guidelines, practices, and procedures for implementing gender equity change efforts and providing training viewed through a social justice lens. We have worked with companies, community-based organizations, and government entities. Talk Gender to Me is delivered by experienced trainers who are knowledgeable about gender identities and the unique challenges faced by transgender and non-binary individuals. The training consists of interactive sessions that cover topics such as understanding gender identity and expression, the experiences and needs of transgender and non-binary people, and how to create a more inclusive workplace. We provided seven total trainings.
